Here are some cute pictures from my lady's first day of school (early toddler program, pre-preschool). She's pretty much already a pro. Didn't even notice (or care) that I or her Daddy wasn't there! Her new teacher, Miss Sandra, let us know that she acted like she has been going to school everyday for months and no one would ever know it was her first day. So far, so good, whew!

Earlier this month we took the fam for a little weekend get-away for Daddy's 40th. I threw him a big party in December but this was a nice cozy and relaxing way to start off the year for all of us. We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, looked for duckies, took our time relaxing and walking down State Street, and stopped at every Harley and motorcycle shop on the way home (and there were a lot). I can't believe Jet is already 2 years old! Elie and I were very lucky to meet Jet and his family when he was about 5 months old and Elie was 6 weeks (at our first mommy/baby yoga class). They really have been buds most of their life. He is now a big boy about to start pre-school and big brother to Oliver. Wow it goes fast... Jet you are one special guy and we LOVE you!

Here are a few snapshots from Christmas morning (Elie's second!) She took pretty much all day to open presents (not taking after her mother), and attentively opened each one and then played with it for a while until realizing (by me or Brian or one of the kids practically forcing her) that there were MORE! It's so much fun watching the kids open presents... I never wanted it to end. During one of Elie's breaks from presents she looked like a little teenager hanging out on her belly looking at stickers... After our morning at home and a much needed naptime we packed up and ended our night traditionally at Uncle Henry's. The 25th is also his birthday, so Happy Birthday Henry and Merry Christmas!! xoxoxo

We love the holidays!!! Our little family was lucky to have some of our closest over on Christmas eve. Is was partly a house-warming, mostly a cozy family get-together. We turned on the carols, I baked a killer lasagna, passed out homemade coco-kits, and everyone brought over some yummies. The present opening turned into a frenzy, and I realized how lucky Brian and I are to have our family and friends with us in a home that we love. Eliette got a rad kitchen from her Minnie and Poppy, and hasn't stopped playing with it since. I hope everyone there had as much fun as we did and that the holidays brought as much joy to all of you out there as they did for us this year.

p.s. Candy is the devil for toddlers. Remember this.

Elie had a BLAST at the Dave Mann Chopper Fest. She got to be around 3 of her favorite things: Daddy, motorcycles, and french fries. Our Bean definitely made quite an impression, and her purple boots were a big hit with the bikers. I pretty much followed my baby biker girl around holding hands with her Daddy while they browsed through a ton of metal thingies that I didn't have a clue about. We got to hang out with Uncle Dan and Aunt Tiffany (Tipaneee) at the Fest and then afterwards at Dan's shop (another place where Elie felt right at home.) She splashed in puddles, kissed shrunken heads, and pointed out all of the colors of Dan's custom builds. We got to follow Daddy home and Elie was very excited about watching him ride his bike. She didn't take a nap so we all got cozy in bed right away and watched cartoons with hot cocoa to wrap up our day.

I could not stop taking pictures of E and her buddy Taluhla on our date at the Farmer's Market / Grove on Tuesday. Can it get any cuter than two tiny girls holding hands and being completely in their own little world?! Not only did they love holding each other's hands, but Lu seemed to have a bit of a crush on Elie's big brother, Tanner... and Tanner kindly obliged to her needing to hold onto him most of the date. CUTE CUTE. (Oh and Marissa, how the heck do you have perfect, PERFECT skin?!?! Cutest picture of you and Lu on the trolley.

P.S. If you can deal with crowds, the Grove is awesome for little ones, especially during the holidays (Santa's house is fun, huge x-mas tree, it "snows" at 7 & 8pm, the trolley is endlessly entertaining—and FREE!, and the water fountain is always a hit.)

The Williams family has brought another beautiful boy into the world, and we are all smitten, especially Eliette. We were lucky to have a lovely quick visit yesterday when Hilary brought over her 2(!!) boys and awesome mom. Elie LOVEs her Lexie and her dog Kona... she seems to be a fan of Lex's fiance, Taylor too! We went up to the central coast to visit last weekend and had an amazing time. When we came home from a super-fun visit from Disneyland with cousin Erin & her boys Jack and Sam in early October, Eliette was officially obsessed with pretty princesses and castles and the Small World song / ride. On June 3, 2009, Eliette Bean turned 1! It went by so fast, and I can't believe our baby is turning into a toddler! Our good friend Betsey and her little lady Josie threw Eliette a wonderful little 1st birthday playdate with most of our mommy-friends and the regular little crew. Brian and I had been planning a big beach blow-out for Elie, but had to put it on hold because of a few bumps in the road. I was so grateful to Bets and Jo, Kacy & Pants, Hil & Jet, and all of our playdate crew that came together to celebrate the first year of my bean! THANK YOU MOMMIES AND BEAN BUDDIES!

I remember when my little brother Jason used to play basketball, my dad would always tell him he was kind of like Michael Jordan because whenever he would really concentrate on shooting a basket, he would stick out his tongue, and I guess Michael Jordan used to do that(?) Well when Elie first started really walking she would always stick out her little tongue, and I guess she's just taking after her uncle :) We took these pictures when her Aunt Rachael came over to play, and as you can see, she is a big ham for the camera and loves her baby dolls and pretty pink sparkly things.

In May, we took Elie to Palm Springs for the second time for Kelly + Chris' wedding. It was awesome to get away, the wedding was beautiful, and we all had an amazing time. Elie Bean is obsessed with water... she loves to drink it, bathe in it, run through it and play in it. Anywhere there is water she is sure to let you know with "WA-WA!!". But for some reason, during one of her normal bathtime routines, she decided she really wasn't into it, and did NOT want to take a bath. So, her amazing big brother, Tanner (she calls him TT), helped out by jumping in the tub with her, making her a much happier little sis. Thanks Tanner!!

I am in awe of how every single parent that told me "it goes by so fast, enjoy the baby phase" is totally right. Eliette is turning into a little lady as every day goes by... an energetic and curious little lady that loves dirt and motorcycles, as well as pretty bracelets, baby dolls, and tu-tus. Our life has been full of busy busy chaos, good and bad, lately, and our posts of this bean have become few and far between. I'm going to attempt to catch up our loved ones this week on a bit of the many milestones and adventures we've gone through over the last few months: playtime and kisses, mini vacations, learning to walk, her 1st birthday, her love for animals, and much more.

We celebrated Brian's birthday on the 1st, and had a great time. We took him to lunch with the whole fam (minus Grandpa Charley , Gary, Joli, and lil Charlie). My parents, Uncle Henry, Michael , Shayne, and the kids (including my brothers) all joined us at Maggiano's and we ate a LOT of food after hanging out at the Grove. Eli LOVED the fountain (you can see her screaming at it in one of the pics.) She was really upset when we strolled her away after one of the water show thingies. Anyway... YOU ARE THE BEST DAD & HUSBAND EVER!!!! WE LOVE YOU SOSOSO MUCH and are excited to celebrate many more birthdays with you! Happy Birthday (again) babe!!

We've been a little crazy lately and I can honestly say I can't remember the last time I had a second to sit down at the computer... oh my goodness... half of an entire year!! we can't believe how big our bean is getting. she says da-da (first word), ma-ma, hi (except it sounds more like hey), and she just started saying "ca" for camo the cat :) we started her on solids, and she llooooves peas and sweet potatoes yummm, and enjoys carrots and pears. she has 2 bottom teeth, and i definitely think she's workin on a few more because she ferociously chomps on anything she can find. AAAND she's doing the army crawl, can push herself to a sitting position from being on her tummy and pull herself up to standing in her crib... so, in a nutshell, we have a very active super-fast growing girl on our hands, and are kind of exhausted (but in a good fulfilling way).

brian, eli, and i had a wonderful time at the williams' household for a yummy dinner party on sunday, and we have pictures of the happy couple to prove it! eliette practically jumped jet the second she saw him and we had to declaw them from each other multiple times... so cute! they even held hands at one point, and shared pacis (jet has her pink one in the last pic haha). oh, and yes, eli's hairdo is ridiculous (hat head).

first couple of days

After 3 1/2 days in the hospital, Bean and I were discharged 2 days early because my doctor said I was doing extremely well and was healing up like I was built for having babies :) Our friends and family have made the first week a breeze, and so far little Eliette loves to sleep at night (only wakes up every 4-5 hours!), so we've been getting a decent amount of rest. Brian is the bestestest husband and daddy ever and has changed way more diapers than me already, and I have fallen even more madly in love with him after seeing how wonderful he is with our daughter. My mom has made sure we are all fed and rested all week long, and I feel like the luckiest daughter in the world. I hope I can be as great of a mother as she is.

Our little Eliette Bean finally arrived after a pretty dramatic labor and delivery. She's absolutely beautiful and the whole family has instantly fallen in love with her (how could we not?!). I had an appointment with my OB Monday morning and we decided to schedule an induction for Wednesday the 4th. Welllll.... that night, around 9 o'clock, I started feeling contractions about 15 min apart, which quickly became stronger and longer. We headed to the hospital around 1:30 early Tuesday morning, and when I arrived I was already 4cm dilated! I progressed really fast, got an epidural when I got close to 6cm 90% effaced, and then dilated to 10cm by 6:00 A.M. They turned the epidural off at 6:30 (bad idea!) so I could push and ended up pushing until 11:00 A.M. Brian was my hero and held my head up during every contraction... my mom ended up coming in to help at around 8 which I didn't think I would need, but I was super grateful she was there. Little Bean ended up getting stuck with her face smushed up against my pelvic bone and completely tangled in the umbilical cord. After a LOT of hard work, pain, and 2 epidurals (that didn't work!!), we ended up getting an emergency C-section. I was surprisingly relieved to go into surgery because I knew that she wasn't going to come out the old fashioned way. My doctor confirmed she wasn't going to come out on her own after she saw how twisted she was in the surgery ("like a screw") and told me that there was proof that I was pushing the right way after seeing how low she was positioned (that made me feel better). When Brian and I heard the words "It's a Girl!!" we were ecstatic and that moment was SO worth the long wait of not knowing whether we were having a boy or a girl. The whole birthing experience was a lot of hard work, but amazing and SO SO worth it... she's beautiful and we're the happiest parents in the world.

I had to show off some of my ladies who have been super helpful throughout my pregnancy, and who I just LOVE. Kelly made us some amazing baby slings that I can NOT wait to use (that's us modeling them at the shower). Rachael is holding my adorable niece, Charlie, and the last one is of me (36 weeks!!) and my little momma (I look like a house next to her!) My mom's friend Patti took that of us right after I finally decided on the little bean's pediatrician, so I am super relieved and happy there (we love Dr. Sevran!) Oh, and please try to ignore some of my fat face shots—just one of the joys of the third tri-mester.

Brian and I had the best time at our shower, and we are so happy we were able to celebrate our excitement with our friends and family. One of my favorite parts was our treat table, filled with lots of yummies from Kelly's Cuppielove (cuppies & pickle jars), and a few extras (jelly BEANS & flowers) from my momma. The shower started around 1 and quickly grew into a P-A-R-T-Y until 11 PM... so basically it was the best of both worlds. I hope everyone that made it had as much fun as we did! xoxo

We did it! We had the greatest, most amazing day yesterday (the whole weekend was great!), and are so happy we were able to share it with most of our closest friends and family. We really missed the few that were not able to make it (Nanny Dobrowner!!!), but don't worry, you'll get LOTS of fun pictures. This is just a small preview of the pictures from our special day (a snapshot that my cousin took during our mini photo session with our wonderful photographer, Randie.) We didn't want the day to end, and tried our hardest to make it last—we didn't even get to our hotel room until around 2 AM, and spent some quality time today with the fam for a late breakfast at Farmer's Market. 22 weeks today: Eyelashes and Eyebrows

I received my Pregnancy Weekly email today and learned that our baby weighs about 15 ounces, measures just under 11 inches head to heel, and is growing eyelashes and eyebrows. Little taste buds are forming on his or her tongue, and if our baby is a boy, his testes begin descending from his abdomen. If Bean is a girl, her uterus and ovaries are already formed, as well as all the eggs she will ever produce. WIERD! (And SO cool.)

I have been a little antsy about feeling the baby move, and just when I started to get worried that I hadn't, bubble-pop-tickle there it is! Brian and I both woke up at about 3:00 AM early Thursday morning (1/17) for no reason at all and then I felt Bean go "pop pop wiggle". It was so cool, I had to giggle and tell daddy B. Since then, the little baby hasn't stopped. I can feel it mostly at night when I'm chillaxin and early in the morning. Ok, pics of the ultrasounds to come today! xoxo

Preggo Week 21 — Catch Up!

Brian and I are so excited to share all about the adventures of our new little bean Forbes. We knew we wanted to have a blog when the bean arrived, but decided that we should start now, especially since the big arrival is only about 4 1/2 months away. So far, everything about the bean looks healthy, and the specialist that did our 4-D ultrasound went all the way as to say that it looked like we had a "beautiful and healthy baby". Big sister Hayley and big bro Tanner were able to be there with me for that ultrasound and it was like a fun little movie. I giggled through most of it, especially when the bean smiled right at us! We definitely have a little heart-breaker in the making :)

As many of you know, we decided to keep the sex of the bean a surprise until the big birthday, and I think it's one of the hardest things I've ever done, but daddy B and I know it will be well worth the surprise.

I will make sure to upload some of the 20 week 4-D ultrasound video and some silly pictures of my ever-growing belly.

Brian and I (and especially my mom) are working very hard to make sure everything is set for our wedding next Saturday (YAY!) and are extremely excited to share our special day with many of you, but wish all of you could be there. We'll make sure to post lots of pretty pictures and fill you in on all of the fun details.
